Utopia dreams up another world…

Globalization of either the ecological issue or the influence of capitalism leads us to calling citizens, civil society and social movements to take over from international institutions and organizations, which impotence and futility have shown their climax in Copenhagen last year.

Therefore Utopia has launched a call at the summit in Cochabamba in 2010 for the creation of a new political space for a Society-World. A new international political space to allow protection of new social and environmental new rights, such as:

• People's freedom of movement and settlement of people;
• A Universal access to fundamental rights;
• A Recognition of the world environmental patrimony and control of the ecological footprint;
• Food sovereignty;
• New democratic spaces;

Utopia announced its project at the European Social Forum in Istanbul and we will bring it again forward at future social forums. In February 2010, we will present it at Dakar for the World Social Forum, and we will call social movements and world citizens to participate to creating this space.

La mondialisation tant de l'enjeu écologique que de l'emprise du capitalisme nous amène à appeler les citoyens, la société civile et les mouvements sociaux à prendre le relais des institutions et organisations internationales, dont l'impuissance et l'inanité s'est montrée à son paroxysme à Copenhague l'an dernier.

C'est pourquoi Utopia a lancé un appel, lors du sommet de Cochabamba en 2010, à la création d'un nouvel espace politique pour une Société-Monde. Un nouvel espace politique mondial pour permettre la protection de nouveaux droits sociaux et environnementaux, tels que:

• la liberté de circulation et d'installation des personnes;
• l'accès universel aux droits fondamentaux;
• la reconnaissance de l'héritage environnemental mondial et la maîtrise de l'empreinte écologique;
• la souveraineté alimentaire;
• l'élaboration de nouveaux espaces démocratiques;

Utopia a annoncé ce projet au forum social européen d'Istanbul et le portera dans les prochains forums sociaux. Dès février 2010, nous le présenterons à Dakar, pour le Forum Social Mondial, et nous appellerons les mouvements sociaux et les citoyens du monde à participer à la création de cet espace.
